Lily Ramirez - Foran has been living and cooking in Ireland for 16 years. She’s the author behind the popular food blog, A Mexican Cook.
She is a woman on a mission to showcase Mexican Food beyond its clichés and stereotypes. Lily is passionate about her craft, sharing recipes woven in tradition and history and showing the subtle complexity, sexiness and freshness that real Mexican Food has to offer. Lily and her Irish husband, Alan Foran, run Ireland’s first boutique Mexican grocer and cooking venue, Picado Mexican, in Portobello in Dublin 2, where apart from getting your Mexican goodies, you can attend one of their very popular cooking classes and workshops.]
She is a member of the Irish Food Bloggers Association, and passionately believes in the Slow Food ethos of good, clean and fair food. She has delivered Mexican food demos with The Theatre of Food at Electric Picnic since the beginning, as well as demos at The Tall Ships Festival, The National Ploughing Championships, The West Waterfod Food Festival and in several cookery schools in Ireland.
She has contributed recipes to The RTE Guide’s EAT, Easy Food Magazine, Slainte, The Complete Guide to Irish Craft Beer and Cider, The Irish Times, The Irish Independent Weekend Magazine and to several Irish food online publications. She has delivered a few TV cooking demos with RTE’s Today Show and contributed to a couple of episodes on RTE’s Food Documentary, ‘What Are You Eating?’ and she’s currently working on her first cookery book.
